4.1 Pre-Release Notes

The following items reflect bug fixes, enhancements or features that are in QuantumCMS 4.1. This is our own internal list of updates, so if one of these jumps out at you, or doesn't make any sense, or just got you curious, please do feel free to ask about it in the comments below.

New Features

• 5283 – Completely redesigned the Page Security screen.
• 2693 – File Manager – Files uploaded with spaces are now have the space replaced with underscores, the user is also notified with a message that the change has taken place.
• 2270 – Added Site-Wide Linked Pages
• 2847 – Added an About Popup screen located under the Help Menu.
• 2848 – Added a Support Popup screen located under the Help Menu.
• 7592/6451 – Added a new Dashboard that replaces the normal screen that loads when you first log into the Authoring Tool. This dashboard will house multiple widgets that display data about the site. You can manage which widgets you see in the Dashboard settings screen under Settings.
• 3063 – Added Site XML Documents screen under Site Properties.
• 7129 – Added Publish and UnPublish Dates to pages. Pages will publish and unpublish themselves based on these dates.
• 7735 – Added a Logout Embedded Application that when hit will automatically logout the current user.
• 5697 – Custom Form emails now have the Full URL that the form was submitted on.
• 7470 – Added Session Timeout Autosave while editing pages. These get saved as new Drafts in the system. Updated the Page History screen to manage both Histories and Drafts. Added ability to save any current page/Page History as a draft.
• 7570 – Added AJAX KeepAlive/Logout feature for Custom Modules.
• 7826 – Users can no longer modify records that are core QuantumCMS Records. A message will inform the user that they are not allowed to modify.
• 8049 – Added a Commerce License Key to the system. If the site does not have a Valid Commerce License, the commerce menu will show a window detailing what commerce is.
• 8050 – File Manager – Videos now play in an embedded player in the File window.
• 5042 – File Manager – Increased the Max Upload file size to 16 Megabytes.
• 7604 – Upgraded QuantumCMS to the newest version on NETgain
• 7475 – Custom Forms that are not Published will no longer be rendered on pages they are registered to. An email will be sent to the To Address of the form informing them that a Custom Form is live on the site yet Unpublished.
• 7962 – Child pages will now receive an Alias when its Parent is moved and leaves an Alias.
• 7870 – Modified all pages in the Authoring tool to display available records on load.
• 7882 – Added the Page Breadcrumb under the Title of the page while editing.
• 5034/5178 – Integrated all Content Reports into the Report Generator.
• 6181 – Adding a new folder in the File Manager now asks for a folder name before creating the folder.
• 4441 – Pages that are of a Page Type that is not active are now displayed in the site tree, but when editing this page the user will get a message that the page type is not active.

UI Corrections

• 2438 – All date fields now have a Popup Calendar control to pick dates.
• 2620 – Username and Email are now searchable fields on the User screens.
• 3775 – Unpublished pages are now designated by a grayed out icon in the site tree.
• 7584 – Updated look and feel of the View Page History screen. Also added controls to go to the Next and Previous History/Draft.
• 8085 – Change Password is now a Popup window instead of being its own screen. When a user must change their password when logging in, they can change their password on the login screen and not be redirected to a separate screen.
• 8187 – Removed the Clipboard/File tabs. The Files now load in a popup window when you select a file. Folders no longer load into a window. You can rename a folder by selecting it and clicking the rename folder icon.
• 4377 – Screens in the Authoring Tool now use a Delete button to handle deletions instead of the Active checkbox.
• 6691 – Updated all system/error messages to be more user-friendly.
• 2658 – Custom Form creator now correctly resizes its controls to fit the screen.
• 2667 – Updated all controls in the system to have a descriptive tooltip.
• 6502 – All screens now have the same Save/Exit button styling
• 6710 – Updated the Email-A-Friend embedded application to make it Accessibility Compliant.
• 7410 – Value is no longer a required field for Page and Site Properties.
• 5857 – Redesigned the search results when searching for a page in the Authoring Tool.
• 7993 – Updated the email that is sent from Custom Form’s so that Email Clients that do not support HTML get a cleanly formatted email.
• 8557 – Lookup Controls will only return 10 results per page instead of 50.
• 7024 – Complete redesign and restructuring of the Authoring Tool, giving it a cleaner more user friendly interface.
• 3841 – Removed the Complete Order Button from the Admin Checkout process as it could cause invalid prices on the Email sent to customer.
• 8066 – Updated all Lookup Controls to have a relevant ToolTip.
• 7963 – Authoring – All grids now use a Check Mark image instead of True/False.
• 7984 – Unified all control widths throughout the Authoring Tool.
• 7985 – Replaced Disabled Checkboxes on the Child Pages Tab with Checkmark Images.
• 8012 – If no records are available for a page, the empty grid has been replaced by a message.
• 7941 – Cleaned up what information is shown in the Add Embedded Application to a page lookup grid.
• 4730 – Increased the size of the Site Header/Site Footer content entry fields in the site configuration screen.
• 4737 – Details Tab is now loaded instead of a blank page after using the Child Page tab to move the last child page.
• 6131/8368 – Removed the Link Page button from the Link Selector. Now when you choose a page from the lookup it automatically links the page. Added Messaging to the screen.
• 6138 – Added scroll bars to the Preview Form window when creating a Form Page.

Bug Fixes

• 2435 – Message is now displayed in the File Manager when a File Upload times out.
• 2664 – Site Tree will now correctly refresh after deleting a page.
• 3919 – Reverting/Restoring a Page’s History will no longer change its location in the site tree.
• 3934 – Most common files are now handled by Static File Handlers and not the QuantumCMS Renderer.
• 6314/6315 – Creating long Page Title, URL Alias and Navigation Text’s will no longer cause the Site Tree to error and not display the page.
• 6526 – Updated version number in JavaScript/CSS links to prevent Caching
• 7312 – Single Quotes will no longer cause JavaScript errors in the File Manager.
• 8263 – Users will now be correctly notified that changes were made to the Pages Content Tab when trying to leave the page before saving.
• 2603 – Users that do not have edit permissions on a page no longer lock that page.
• 2690 – Users are now prompted with a message if they do not have permissions to modify a File/Folder in the File Manager.
• 2695 – Searching for pages in the Authoring Tool now displays correct messages when invalid search terms are entered.
• 2702 – Link Selector and Page Selector no longer include ‘/Home’ in the breadcrumbs.
• 3244 – Entering Embedded Application Configuration XML is now more User Friendly by Encoding and Decoding the XML.
• 3287 – A user that does not have access to the page that a shared page is getting its content from will now be prompted with a log in screen.
• 4177 – Added Messaging for when an external RSS feed or Remote XML application returns a Page Not Found.
• 4630/6806 – Updated all Database Stored Procedures for formatting standards.
• 4783 – Performed database cleanup maintenance on the Default QauntumCMS Site to prevent bad data from going out to client sites.
• 4841 – Added default ‘Opt In’ text for new commerce sites.
• 5504 – Commerce - Admin Checkout will now display a message when trying to complete an order with a blank captured total.
• 5739 – Redirection and File page types now correctly render URL’s that end in a ‘/’.
• 6342 – Tabbing through controls on a page with a Content Editor no longer causes the page controls to shift off of the page.
• 6514 – Updated default File Paths for New sites to be valid.
• 6556 – Sort Buttons are now disabled when adding a new page until the new page is saved.
• 6914 – Role screens now correctly show the AD Groups button only if Active Directory is being used.
• 7097 – File Page Types no longer error when closing a file lookup screen without selecting a file.
• 8259 – Updated all Commerce Stored Procedures to use a more refined Decimal Precision.
• 3819 – Fixed all memory leak issues within the Site Tree.
• 4328/6179/6204 - Added a method that will return the Header and Footer of a page and also correctly reflect the LimitXMLNavigation property.
• 4333 – Added validation to not allow a page alias of ‘/’.
• 4412 – Lookup Controls (‘Shared Page’ Control on a Shared Page) can now be cleared out by clearing the text box and clicking save.
• 4425 – In the Custom Form Builder, copying a question now gives it a unique name to prevent duplicate named questions.
• 5330/6208 – Renderer now correctly checks whether the URI is active, if it is not it will display a message informing the user of the Default URI for the site.
• 5624 – Preview Tab now functions in FireFox.
• 5629 – Sorting/Dragging pages in the site tree now checks to see if the user is allowed to edit that page before allowing the move.
• 5929 – Updated all pages to check that the user that navigated to the page has the pages governing permission. This prevents a user from navigating directly to a screen that they would not normally have permission to.
• 6703 – File Manager – Renaming an image no longer causes the image not to load.
• 6762 – Renderer now correctly references the path entered for Logs in the Site Configuration screen.
• 8262 – When a ‘FOLDER_VIEW’ is setup with an invalid path, a message is displayed asking the user to correct the path instead of a ‘Page Not Found’ page.
• 3936 – Added a key to the site Web.config to designate the default Applications path.
• 2279 – Cleaned up messaging in the Renderer
• 3973 – Added an informative message for when a user’s session is lost and they are redirected to the login screen.
• 3974 – All public users are now redirected to the public site when trying to log into the Authoring Tool.
• 3983 – Optimized the Authoring Page search.
• 4900 – Page header will no longer disappear when switching tabs in IE6.
• 6702 – Adjusted the Email-A-Friend application to use the SMTP from the DataBase if none is specified in the Web.config
• 6069 – Updated the Renderer to allow the @Page entry point for Applications to be in any location on the page and still function correctly.
• 6876 – File Manager – File path now always shows the current path of the selected File/Folder
• 7084 – Turned the Revert/Restore content message into a message in NETgain.
• 7520 – RSSInclude and RemoteXML applications now display messages when getting invalid data from the Source.
• 7573 – Site Configuration screen now clears out previous pages’ parent information before loading.
• 7606 – Changed message severity of custom form emails to be of a normal severity instead of Important.
• 7609 – Updated Report Generator to correctly Sort Columns and Format all Dates.
• 7710 – Updated the Exporting of Reports to Excel to be more streamlined.
• 7838 – Added a default Page Type Description for all Page Types.
• 7841 – Resolved JavaScript error when setting the Content Frame.
• 7891 – The root ‘/Files’ folder is no longer able to be renamed in the File Manager.
• 8013 – Pages no longer use the ‘/Home’ part of the breadcrumb.
• 8210 – File Page Types are now only allowed to point to the ‘/Files’ or ‘/XML’ Folders.
• 8211 – All URL fields are now being validated.
• 8231 – Cleaned up the HTML in the File Manager
• 8232 – Resized Authoring Tool screens.
• 8253 – Custom Documentation link under the Help menu now pulls its value from the Site Configuration screen. If no value is present the link will not be shown.
• 8334 – When moving a page the system will now check for existing Alias’ and not allow the move if 1 would conflict.
• 8435 – Added message if the ASPInclude Application fails.
• 8508 – During Upgrade all Permissions tables will be cleaned up to remove any Bad/Invalid data.
• 2621 – Added descriptions for all default Roles.
• 8102 – Updated the Email-A-Friend embedded Application to provide more detailed information in the emails sent.
