Is there a way to change the title tag so that the text in the title bar and the text at the top of each page are not the same?

For instance, if I wanted a title bar that reads "Pet Treats - Buffalo, NY" but a page title that just reads "Pet Treats," how would I do this?

Thanks!

Amy,

In your current site templates you cannot have a different page title and page heading. We intentionally match the title tag to the page title for search engine optimization best practices. Those two are linked within the system.

What we can do is remove the automatic page heading (h1) from the template and allow you to manually enter it on each page. This way you can have completely different text. This would be a change to the default template for your site.

Another option is that we allow you to add a page property on a page to override the

(page heading) or the

headings to every page on your site. This would also be a template change for your site.
If either of these options would work, we can make the template change pretty easily. You can contact me directly and I'll work up an estimate to make the change to your templates.
In SEO, do I need to have the exact keyword phrase that I'm targeting in my title? Continuing the example from above: if I'm targeting the keyword phrase "Pet Treats Buffalo NY," instead of inserting a title that reads "Pet Treats Buffalo, NY," would it be as effective to insert something like: "Pet Treats - Company Name - Buffalo, NY"?

Right now, the titles are set up so that they read "Title - Company Name." But, if I could add a field so that it reads "Title - Company Name - Buffalo, NY" it may be easier than manually changing headings or titles.
Amy,

You don't have to have an exact match. A page's [title] tag is driven from three places in QuantumCMS:
1. The Title Prefix (managed at the site level)
2. The page Title (on a per page basis)
3. The Title Suffix (managed at the site level)

If I understand you correctly and you just want to add more words to every [title] tag on the site, then you can go into the Site management screen and just add those words to the end of the Title Suffix field. Then every page will have it and we won't need to make any template changes.
