Tips, Tricks, How-to's, and News for QuantumCMS Users

Many of our users are already familiar with the Linked Pages feature of QuantumCMS. In short, it allows you to take a page from deep within your site (or anywhere in your site) and elevate it to a place of prominence, such as a box on the home page or as cross-sell information on a page about a product or service. The ability to define different types of Linked Pages, sort them, and even override the text that comes with the page itself provides a lot of flexibility.

This feature has now been expanded to work across the entire site, not just a page at a time. For example, if your site requires the same press release to repeat itself on every page of the site, you can link it site-wide. Linking it once makes it much easier to maintain these kinds of cross-links and give you all the same tools you've already been using to manage them. These site-wide links can also be included with any page-specific Linked Pages, allowing you flexibility to display some content on all pages, and some content on only a sub-set.

This can be especially useful for maintaining links in footers. For many sites, changing a footer link requires you to edit a site property. Now you can use a site-wide linked page. In addition to the freedom to change the link text and sort order, you can even further customize it with the Linked Pages Properties feature. In the footer example you can attach accesskeys to specific links to address accessibility compliance. In the sample screen shot below you can see that we defined most of the links to be used in the footer.

As always, if you have questions about Linked Pages (site-wide or otherwise) within QuantumCMS, please feel free to contact us.
