Tips, Tricks, How-to's, and News for QuantumCMS Users

If you are using Internet Explorer 9 for Windows, you may have noticed some oddities in the WYSIWYG editor. We posted information about this (Internet Explorer 9 and QuantumCMS) just after Internet Explorer was officially released and noted that both Microsoft and the makers of the WYSIWYG editor were working on updates. We also posted work-arounds for using the QuantumCMS authoring tool in Internet Explorer 9.

As of yesterday afternoon we have deployed a longer-term fix until the rendering issues with Internet Explorer 9 and the WYSIWYG editor are corrected. We have added code to tell Internet Explorer 9 to use a feature that essentially tells the browser to behave as if it is Internet Explorer version 8, the last release of the browser on which we know the QuantumCMS authoring tool works.

This is still a work-around, but it no longer requires you to tell your browser to switch to Compatibility Mode since this will now happen automatically.

We will continue to follow the development of the WYSIWYG editor as its makers continue to work on a new release to address the rendering in Internet Explorer 9. Once we have completed testing we will be integrating it within a future point release of QuantumCMS.

As always, if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us.
